This morning was an early start! We had our tree top adventure activity book for 09:30 and had to get on the MRT and a bus to get there. Got up at 7, packed, checked out, and left our bags at the Wing Hostel. We knew the way to Bedok after that se had to get the bus. Once onboard a nice guy sitting near us told us where to get off. We arrived at the reservoir, and had to walk around it to arrive at the base camp. They seem to have a big event going on at the reservoir, like dragon races. They all seemed very competitive, and we're all training in different parts of the woods. We arrived a couple of minutes before 9:30 and completed the paper work. It was now time for the training and equipment. It was exactly the same as the Go Ape back home in the UK. Me and Aaron were asked to go at the front, I'm so glad, because otherwise we would have been waiting the entire time.
There was 4 sections ending with a zip line, and a sandpit. All but the last one I managed to go backwards. Sand everywhere, mixing with the sweat it wouldn't brush off. Sand down my tee shirt, my pants, in my shoes. It was only going to get worse. We did all the black difficult runs including the leap of faith. We were so far in front, we actually finished about 30 minutes before the people behind us.
Thank god we finished when we did as the rain just fell out the sky. We just waited in the base came until the rain finished. It was about a 30 minute down pour. I was now wet and covered in so much sand, we decided it would be best to head back to Wink. I must have looked a mess on the bus and tube. Showered and then got ready to finish the stuff we had planned for the day! I felt 100 times better after the shower.
Made our way to the Singapore flyer that is the worlds largest giant observation wheel. Only 30 meters larger than the London Eye. It was 165 meters. Before going up we both wanted something to eat.. We found a O'Learys right under the wheel. It was so good. (Since Aaron has been with me I've only eaten western food! I'm going to get fatter again!). After lunch we boarded the Singapore Flyer, we had a young girl that was screening her head off, until her mum said we are getting the same views as a birdie... The girl started to calm down, however then ran around saying I'm flying like a birdie... Flapping her arms! The wheel was good, great views and it was nice to sit and watch the world go by. You could see parts of the F1 track when looking down from the top. They also had a big army demonstration going in around the Singapore Flyer. They had so many solders walking around, and their tanks all Lined up along the river.
We were going to try and see the marina bay hotel. We got the red line MRT to the station Marina Bay, but when we came to the surface, it was miles away. In the end we decided to skip this, and head to orchard and look around the shops. Although when we got there my back was killing for some reason, and I didn't fancy looking around the shops I knew I wouldn't buy anything. With Aaron checking out of the hostel in an hour or so, we decided to head back, use the free wifi. I managed to copy all his pictures into my IPad. (not sure if I have made the right decision but I'm going to keep it on me, I will try not to have it nicked!).
We chatted about the week, and it was time for us both to go, getting my pack on, and Aaron getting his suitcases, we headed down to the Chinatown MRT station. As we were waiting on the platform we were getting different trains, I was heading back to Clarke Quay and the River City Inn hostel, and Aaron was going in the other direction to the Airport. We said our goodbyes! Aaron got on his train, and waved him off, as mine pulled into the station. Back to travelling alone! (Sorry Aaron, but the way I like it!!). But it had been a really good week. It was nice to have someone from back home to see what I've been up to. Arrived at hostel, there was a problem to do with allocating someone my bed. The manager had just popped out, so I had to wait. It was fine with the free wifi. Aaron finally texted me to say everything was ok with his flight. Got my bed. A top bunk! Great. It wasn't long before I was fast asleep.
