I hadn't set an alarm but woke up about 9 o'clock, we were told breakfast was until 9:30 but really couldn't get arsed to get up. I had finally showered and went down to find something to eat, then found out breakfast was still being served! Result. I walked to the cafe/food court around the corner, and used the free wifi that I managed to get into yesterday. I returned to the hotel, and it was time to check out, and say our goodbyes to the rest of the G- Adventures crowd. (At least goodbye to the ones I wouldn't be seeing during today and tomorrow!). Waved everyone goodbye as I walked out the hotel, and headed to my new hostel.!
** END OF G-ADVENTURES TOUR **
Looking at the map it didn't look far. But I think I under estimated how long it would take with my rucksack. My hostel is called River City Inn and it's on Hong Kong Road. It's nice with an amazing location. Dropped my bags. The receptionist ran out to me with a bottle of water, as I was a sweaty state. I then headed back to the Bencoolen hotel, where I was meeting Tess and Selina for a day on Sentosa Island. I was running late, So I thought I would hop in the tube, when I arrived the station I was completely lost. Thank god for Maria, walking in. She then pointed in me in the right direction. The girls were in reception waiting for me!
We walked to a tube station that was closer, and headed down to the harbour front, then crossed over the Sentosa, on the Sentosa Express. It's like a monorail. Only took a couple of minutes to reach the beach station. The island and beaches are all man made, but was ideal. The sun was burning down, and in the distance, you could see all the cargo ships coming into Singapore.
First we decided to have lunch cheese pizza, which I inhaled. Of course while at the beach, I had to have a cocktail! (They were the same price as beer!). White Apple it was called; vodka, apple sours, and apple juice. NICE! Sunbathing time! I hadn't been laying in the sun long before I needed to go into the sea to cool off. I had a swim, then just laid in the waves as they hit the beach on my back, I just closed my eyes. After about 10 minutes I felt something wet hit my hand, I open my eyes and looked over to my left side. A girl about 8 years old was copying me and laying in the same position as me! I guess she wanted my attention. I put my head back on the sand and shut my eyes again. She started to kick water at me!!! So I went into the sea, it sounds mean, but I went far enough that I knew she wouldn't be able to touch the ground.. And follow me, plus Selina was further out as well. We couldnt help but laugh at the crazy copy cat kid! I made sure I toasted both sides of my body for about 30 minutes in the sun, before going into the sea again. It was so good, blue skies warm water, perfect. Except it was time to head back. I jumped off at the closest tube station to my hostel, and was meeting up with a couple if the girls tonight for dinner. Showered, even thought to be honest there is no point, as soon as I walk down the 4 flights of stairs and outside I was sweating again! Met Edelyn and Tess at the Parliament building, and walked down to the Quay. We first stopped off at a nice bar, and had a really good beer that was brewed locally, it was really light, but amazing after a long day in the sun. We ordered some starters. I had mushroom soup, and the others ordered chips and wedges, but we all shared, dipping everything into the soup! It was fit. :-) After we continued to walk around the quay. The massive skyscrapers on our left, and the small bars and restaurants to the rights. We settled on the bar at the end of the strip, it just happened to be an English pub, with English grub! I have to admit, the food was amazing, and really good price.! I went for the gammon and a beer. It was nice sitting looking over the quay, watching the boats go by. The evening had gone by so quickly, and it was finally time to say goodbye to Tess, as she was flying in a couple of hours. It was a really good night. Great food and drink, great company! I had a short walk back to the hostel, got into bed, and watched a film...
