*********** CHANG-OVER ***********
I have to be honest, I didn't feel great when the alarm went off at 06:15. I honestly didn't even think I had been asleep. Got all my stuff together. I felt better when I looked at Aaron and he was suffering more than me. We were in reception at 06:45 which was the time we were told to be down there. However our shuttle to the airport didn't even arrive until 07:05 that meant we could have had another 20 minutes in bed. The transfer to the airport was about 40 minutes, and I think I just stared out the window. Aaron managed to sleep. Actually Aaron managed to sleep in the Terminal, and for the entire flight. (Alright for some!).The flight departed on time out over the water, it was nice when the captain came on over the PA system, and was a British guy - sad i know but it made me feel safe! Arrived back at Singapore and had loads of stuff planned for today but all we wanted to do was rest. We got off the MRT at China Town and walked to our new hostel after getting a little lost. WINK hostel was our new home. The rooms were cool instead of bunk beds everyone got their own pod, with funky coloured lights. We just relaxed and chilled out for a few hours. I hadn't eaten all day, and it was now about 17:30, so had a quick burger as didn't really want loads to eat, and still not 100%
Tonight we were going to the night safari. It was a MRT and bus ride away, but we had got a tourist travel card that covered us for all types of transport. It was about an hour journey, but we seem to get there easily. We arrived just as it was getting dark. There was a fire show starting at the entrance so we watch that before going through. Some things have changed in 10 years, and I don't really remember everything that was there. But we went for a walk around the trails of the night safari. I saw load of animals. My highlight was the hyena's, even thought it scared the s*** out of me. They were amazing and so close. There was no fence and it wasn't in a cage, it just stared at us on our eye level. If it had just jumped it could have got us, but I think there was a massive drop in between us, that you cant really sea as it is covered by bushes. We saw fishing cats, zebras, giraffes, hippos, lions, and lots more that I cant remember. We managed to get back in time for a wildlife show. They had a number of animals that were able to do tricks for treats! They got some of the audience to help. Then the staff started to panic, saying they had lost an animal.. Of course it was part of the show. Aaron and I was just thinking something is going to pop out of somewhere. The staff run over to us, and made us move out the way. I Starting to think what the hell is going on, they open a trap door right next to where we were sitting and lifted out a massive snake. That must have been there the entire time. You should have seen me get out the way. Once they had taken it to the change I went back to my seat.
The last part of the night safari was the the train ride that went around the night zoo. You get a really good view of the animals again. I know when I went to the night safari in 2001 we wasn't sure if the animals were real. But I can now confirm they are. Towards the end of the train ride, you could see lightening that was lighting up the sky. The thunder clapped over our heads. Our night safari was over, and returned to the bus stop. We boarded as the rain started to full. We managed to get back to Chinatown by the skin of our teeth, as it all stops at midnight, and we managed to get the last train. I was so tired i think i put my head on the pillow and crashed out.
