So I mist out on blogging yesterday was kind of a hectic day went for a sea bath with kasumni today god she is such a strong swimmer believe it or not swimming so far out is feckin hard work in the sea round here so after bout an hour I ended up taking a mouth full of salt water and lost concentration and that was it I so needed to get back to shore quick, but could I make it???? NO so I had to call jasper to drag me back half way thank god I'm not to proud to know when I need to give up deep sea swimming/snorkelling is off the agenda for the rest of the month :( anyway so after nearly drowning I caught some rays on the beach bought an ace painting and some wooden statues from a Maasai for 2000kes about £12 stuff like this you pay a fortune for at Trentham, After coming back to turtle watch one of the guys that works for them thought I was suffering from post traumatic stress and was told to take the afternoon off woop woo :)
We arranged to have dinner at the Beer Garden (took 2 hours for food to be served) with a few guys from another volunteer project called Arosha then hit a club called Comeback, that an eye opener the place was full of prozy's this one came on to me grinding and frusting at me she was massive a complete beast, she was about a foot taller than me, but when I told her I was a volunteer and had no money she soon disappeared so whilst the coast was clear me Jasper and Benjo went to the casino cashed in 500kes which is about £3 for chips played black jack and got free drinks all night I came out up 100kes in the end which I passed on to a woman living on the street originally I lost 400 and wanted to keep a chip so pinched a chip of Jasper and and won back the 400 rhis woman in the street was living rough with a baby boy no older than 3 I didn't know where to look at first it's so frustrating to see d*** head Italians frowing away thousands of shillings which I nothing to them and there's kids sleeping on the knees of there mum with a hesian bag as a blanket.
So that was last night, today we went to a release a local fisherman accidentally catch turtles in the net's and instead of eating them or just frowing them back when they could be injured there given a reward for calling the centre and keeping them safe, the staff and volunteers go and record which species and all particulars of the turtle and where the fisherman caught it. Not long after returning the whole of Watamu went on blackout Thursday nothing can be done when there is not electricity so it was just chill out by the pool and wait for another release. Nothing came up so the plan was to go dig for ghost crabs to use for live food. Today has not been so productive.
The evening has been good volunteers here cooked for Arosha, Hetty the pr woman of turtle watch was rather pissed off apparently "this is a place of work" and were not aloud guests which makes me think what about people that are here on there own? The girl here was on her own for 2 weeks before I turned up and what is my money going to cause the cost of living is next to nothing so that was a complete buzz kill, so it was just chill out again I'm gonna be so laid back by the time I get home, so early to bed being on british time also I'm not tired which is a good thing cause there's monkeys running about on the roof and I left my cigs in the kitchen, everyone had gone to bed and a monkey had it's arm through the window trying to grab food off the side I s*** myself so so much, now every noise I hear freaks me out and it's windy so there is alot of noise, tonight has been a bit of a s*** night missing my creature comforts a little bit and seeing loads of different people each day with work, and to top tonight off I've been bitten by a baby snake 'thumbs up, big woop' I'm still enjoying the experience but feel I've been dropped in at the deep end everybody on volunteer projects round here is actually doing marine conservation or some thing along them lines, but there all nice Joy from Arocha is really nice I seem to be able to talk to her easily.
So 12:20 local time I'm gonna post and sit here watch a movie and hope to fall asleep with my knife just incase monkey paws come through my window.
