Thursday 29th March
Well hello peeps! Darren and Kerry again here from the far corners of the Earth! Well a fair bit has happened since our last update.
We called Movie World last Friday and were told the excellent news that they wanted to employ us for the Easter period! We then had to make sure that we went out to the charity stores and bought some cheap black shoes to wear for work, Kerry hardly needed cojoling into shoe shoppping might I add! We were told over the phone that we would need to turn up for an orientation day on the Monday so we spent the weekend chilling out. Saturday we popped down to Wet and Wild and through ourselves down the slides all day and then when it got dark we watched the Dive in Movie in the big pool which this week was a rather shockingly bad film called Flicka 'starring' country music star Tim McGraw (who can't act) and the was the whole film was bascially about some girl trying to tame a wild horse.
Sunday we booked back into Miami Caravan Park, this time one of their holiday units rather than camping. The room is pretty basic but at least we have a proper bed and a TV! Now I hate TV but it did actually feel good to watch some programs again, including the guilty sin of Neighbours (oh, the shame...)
Monday we turned up early for our orientation day at Movie World, which was held in one of the back stage rooms of their Scooby Doo ride, which apparently used to be the Gremlins Theatre when the park first opened. The day pretty much revolved around signing paper work and all that boring stuff and watch health and safety videos. We also picked up our Wet and Wild uniforms, which comprises of shorts, coloured short sleeve shirt and baseball cap!
Wednesday was Kerry's first day working in Bombara Burger Bar and her job involved making burgers up, serving customers and generally helping out. My first day wasn;t until today so I spent Wednesday lounging around Wet and Wild by myself, which was a pretyt strange experience! As I mentioned it was my first day today and my job is within The Snack Shack, scooping ice creams, making ice cream cones up and serving customers! It's all pretty basic stuff and we've both worked for so long in customer service based jobs that we're pretty used to dealing with customers.
We've also been called about doing estra work at Australian Outback Spectacular, an award winning, huge outback show featuring horseback stunts, a competition between two shearing sheds and at some point during the show a helicopter comes through the roof as the guests dinners are served! Our training day is 4th April so that should be hard work but pretty fun we think!
Anyway, hope that you all enjoyed the last photo updates, and we'll update you all again soon!
