Sous Rie everyone
I haven't written for ages, I've been so busy!
On Friday I had a really nice day at work, everyone has started to practice their English with me as they are getting less shy now! I have also become more and more involved with the English lessons and am really enjoying them! In the afternoon I bought everyone an ice cream, they were so pleased at the thought, it was smiles all round!
At 6 we went out with Hannah to a restaurant called Friends for dinner, we had about 20 tapas dishes on the table for us to share and they were delicious! The reason we went on this particular night was that Friends are trying to buy their land which is $3 million because the owner is selling it. Friends is also a school and shop to provide teaching and work for the local people. About 12 restaurants in town are all giving their profits to friends tonight to help them and then having a party at the French Cultural Club to celebrate afterwards. The party was great fun, the Cambodians dance so well and they are great fun!
On Sat we left home at 6.30 to get the bus to Sihanoukville to go to the beach. The journey there was a bit rubbish , the bus broke down and what was ment to be a 4 hour trip was 6! We stayed in a guest house called GST which was really nice, quite basic but it only cost $4 for a double room, with a bathroom, fan and tv, v. cheap!
The weather was awful, we had thunder and lightning storms all weekend but it was still beautiful and very atmospheric! We walked along the beach and saw all the Khmers swimming in there clothes. We found a quiet spot in the tourist end of the beach so we wouldn't offend anyone by swimming in our bikinis! The water was so nice and warm and the waves were really big!felt like home, apart from the temp!It was a really nice weekend, despite the weather! We will definitely be going back but maybe when the rainy season is over!!!?
On Monday morning it was so hard to get up at 6.30 when we had been sleeping in at the weekend!I managed to get another girl to join the English lesson today and she really enjoyed it although she really did struggle with it!
At 6 some of us went to meditation at Wat Langka. We were taught how to do it properly by a monk and it was really interesting, but obviously it takes a very long time to be able to do it properly but I am going to go to a few more and practice! We then went to the lake side for dinner, its gorgeous down there!
This morning I have been helping to make the cards for the shop, its really nice to see how they do things so differently to us!
Better go now, have got to get back to work, the weather is getting better and it is so hot today so I want to be able to walk as slow as possible so as not to boil over!!lol!
Bye for now
love and hugs
