Hey everyone
The girls all wanted to come to the internet cafe again today and seen as we have been busy again today I thought I wouldn't pass up on the opportunity to keep you up to date!
This morning we went to the Genocide museum (just to depress ourselves even more!!!)which is just opposite the Boddhi Tree where we are staying. It was absolutely heartbraking! We were shown all the rooms that the victims were kept in and tortured ,as well as the tools they used. We also walked round the tiny cells they were kept in, they still had the chains in that they were tied down to and there was still patches of dried blood on the floor which really hit home! There were photo upon photo of the victims some as young as 3 or 4, they looked so sad and scared!
We were all quite upset after seeing all this, so after some lunch and time to reflect on this we took a trip to the Central Market which was amazing. There were so many stalls, it was huge, I was in heaven!lol! The food smelt delicious and there was silk and jewellery every where! I saw the fried spiders and crickets but haven't built up the courage to eat one yet, that may take some time, they look revoulting!
The rest of the food here is yummy, I have had a few stir fries already, very spicey and will attempt some curry soon!
Lots of the toilets here haven't got toilet paper and we have been told to get used to the 'bum gun', nice! lol, which is like a mini shower hose to wash yourself with, will take some getting used to!
I will be starting my project on Monday at 8 and I cant wait, I am really really excited, I have walked past the shop I will be in and it looks really cool! On Monday night we are going to a leaving party for one of the previous volunteers who we met last night, she is wicked and it should be really good!
Anyway, enough for now, I wil try and put the rest of my photos on, this computer is really slow and only lets me put five on at a time!
Speak to you soon
love to all
