Awana House, Chiang Mai, Thailand
I woke up around 8.30 and went downstairs for breakfast. I met two english guys who had just arrived on the overnight sleeper train from Bangkok. Their names were Tom and Rob and they were travelling around together for two weeks. They said the train journey cost them 800 bhat which took them about 15 hours and I told then that's how much our plane tickets had cost for a one hour journey. Result!!!
Archie and Claire came down about 11.00 and after they had eaten and organised themselves we left the GH. First job of the day was to take our washing to a laundry. 50p per kilo so that was reasonable. We then walked down the main road (Ratchadamnoen) to Wat Pra Singh Temple where we spent about half an hour looking around. I think once you've done the Grand Palace no temples can compare thereafter!
Afterwards we decided to each have a 90 minute massage. 30 min foot, 30 min oil and 30 min Thai. After we got changed into our massage outfits we went into a room where we all laid down in a row and waited for our masseurs. It started off with a foot massage and Archie giggled probably the whole way through. I guess he really does have ticklish feet! The Thai massage I felt was good but Claire's guy was a little too rough on her and she found it agony the whole way through. Not a good introduction for Claire to Thai Massage as I have had a few now and really enjoy them!
We got back to the GH about 6.00pm and had dinner there. I went to bed about 9.00pm.
