In the morning I booked flights back to Bangkok for Claire and Archie and used the guesthouse printer to print off the tickets. We both had to move rooms today for the last two nights stay and we were both pleased with them on the third floor.
At 1pm we were picked up by a guy from Big Game Fishing in his car (makes a nice change not to be picked up in the standard Toyota van!) and driven to a lake about an hours drive away from our lodgings.
I decided when we got there not to join in but Claire and Archie were given a brief tutorial on how to cast a line out into the lake by a guy who was waiting for us. They were going to fish for catfish for half a day.
After they had their lesson our driver (who was also the instructor) joined us at our spot on the bank. I sat and watched Claire and Archie fish until 6pm. I think between them they caught about 12 fish with three of them being very big. The guy told us the biggest one in the lake was about 45kg but it wasn't caught by team Brown that day!!
I think the biggest one was caught by Claire weighing in about 25kg. Once the fish are caught the guy releases them back into the lake.
It was a hot afternoon and trying to reel the fish in sometimes took up to half an hour depending on their size. It looked like it was hard work and Archie found it too much so usually gave the job of reeling one in to the instructor when his arms got tired! Glad I was just watching!!
At 6pm we all packed up and were driven back to our a Guest House. Claire and Archie had a great time and so did I watching them. Well done Team Brown on your catches!!
