Today Claire and Archie went on an all day Thai cooking course where they travelled by train to a farm and learnt to cook 7 different dishes.
I didn't join in with the activities as it's not really my thing, so I had a nice relaxing day by the pool at Awana House instead.
They arrived back to the Guest House at 4pm and luckily Claire had a sampler of each dish in separate bags. My lucky day!!
I tried all of them and they were absolutely delicious. Well done you two!!
At 8.30pm we bumped into Tom and Rob outside on the Soi (street) and they told us they were going to watch the Muay Thai boxing at Thapae Stadium. We said "we are going too!" so it was a short walk of three minutes to the stadium.
We thought Archie would like to see this but myself and Claire were not really keen on it.
The five of us all sat together three rows back from the ring and ordered drinks.
After waiting around for ages the night started with a Muay Thai exhibition fight which had been choreographed to show people what it's all about.
It's very similar to kick boxing but as I'm not an expert in any way it's hard to describe.
There followed seven different boxing matches ranging from 12 year olds fighting (did not like this at all!) to the older guys. Also a humorous round where ten fighters go in the ring blindfolded and walk around flailing punches in the air hoping to make contact. This was quite funny and set up to lighten the mood and for the tourists to enjoy.
The very last round was two women fighting. One was from Netherlands and the other was a Thai girl. It lasted all of about 60 seconds before the Dutch lady knocked out the Thai and it was all over as quickly as that!
The evening come to a close at about 11.15pm and we said goodbye to Tom and Rob and walked back to the guest house. I didn't really enjoy the evening but I'm glad I went for the experience. Of course Archie had a great time!!!
