Had a good nights sleep in Oun Hotel but unfortunately was woken up really early by a cockerel nearby. Goodness knows where it was as it was quite a built up area (mainly hotels)
We all went to the pool around 9.30am and swam and played around for a couple of hours. It was very strange as the hotel did not offer breakfast and it's on site restaurant did not open until the afternoon so we raided our room fridges and the mini bar. Not a healthy breakfast of crisp type snacks and chocolate bars!!
We checked out of Oun Hotel at 11.30am and they ordered us a metered taxi to take us to Don Muang Airport in Bangkok. This is the airport most domestic flights use.
We were flying with Thai Lion Air (a very new airline who have two planes) to the North of Thailand to Chiang Mai. The cost was 800 bhat each or 16 english pounds. Really cheap!!! We were there two hours before so we had a Burger King meal (this in fact was more expensive than one air ticket if you can believe that!!) and looked around the shops. In a bookshop I saw a cookery book entitled 'Cooking With Poo' which had me in hysterics!!! I had to take a photo of it. I know, call me immature!!!!
Anyway, the flight left exactly on time and we arrived in Chiang Mai at 15.30.
We were taken to our new home for the next week - Awana House, Soi 1, Thapae Gate, Old Town.
It had a really small pool which was freezing as it has a cover over the top not letting the sun heat it up. We sat around the pool making plans for the next week and booked a few trips with Reception before heading out to eat dinner at a local restaurant. In bed fairly early as we were all quite tired.
