My flight from Phuket to Bangkok Don Muang airport left at 18.45 and I arrived an hour later as it was on time. It was with Air Asia and cost just over 40 pounds. I think it's more expensive to fly on a Sunday! I was quite surprised at the uniform of the stewardesses - red blouses and jeans! First time I have seen jeans as a uniform on a flight. I guess they like the casual look!!
I hired a meter taxi which took me to O'Nidra Guest House in Old Town Bangkok in 20 minutes at the cost of 350 bhat or 7 english pounds. I think I was overcharged but that's a common occurrence with airport taxi drivers.
O'Nidra was on Surawong Road a busy dual carriageway in the Silom district of Bangkok. It was a short distance away from the protests but these demonstrations had no impact on me.
My room was a single yellow coloured room with no window which felt weird and was up four flights of stairs. Luckily the young lad took my case up for me as I would never have made it! There was a bed but no furniture except for a bedside cabinet. There was also a nice roof garden which had good views over the surrounding area.
I sorted myself out and had a shower in the shared bathroom and hit the sack but unfortunately there were 4 Russians in the room next door who were extremely loud. As the walls were paper thin I could hear everything and I'm sure they were throwing a ball at the dividing wall which was infuriating. I banged on the wall and shouted at them to keep the noise down. Luckily they all went out for the evening at 11pm so I put my ear plugs in, took a sleeping pill and drifted off to a deep sleep. I didn't hear the four of them come back so the pill obviously worked as I'm sure they wouldn't have returned quietly. Honestly, some people have no respect!
It was a good nights sleep in my little windowless yellow room!!
