How can I describe Hampi? There are nearly as many old temples as there are boulders, and there are a s*** load of boulders! We stay at a good cheap guesthouse in the main bazar. There are so many temples to see over a 5 mile radius. You can pay a fortune for a guide and air con car, rent a bicycle and sweat like a black man at a Kkk convention or (the sensible option) rent a little off road bike. The bike did is really well. Travel in India is not gentle, so go get from Goa to Hampi we book the best night bus possible. 900 rps each! An air conditioned, supposedly air suspensioned deluxe bus! I chose the lower bunk as it will have a lower centre of gravity and the nice quiet back if the bus.... I was right on the boiling hot noisy engine!
