This place is nice. Tidy, clean and with some good restaurants. So obviously it's full of westerners! I hate westerners abroad, it's not their fault but I just don't want to mix with them when I'm in India. Am currently on a train from Kannur to cochin. Apparently the seat I bought doesn't exist! Had to grease a few palms to get my first class ac seat that I had already paid for. Ok it cost me a 60p bribe but that's not the point. First class ac my ass! It's dirty and hot..... Gota love India.
This is our home for 10 days. It's £5 a day has an en suite cold shower, mozzy net and noisy fan..... What more could I ask for. O yer and it's 5 feet from the beach!
With a good hotel room overlooking the sea. Cheap food and a couple of cold beers our stay in Kannur has been pretty relaxing. Went to see a local religious ceremony called a theyyam. Please see the crazy costumed guy in the picture. It goes on for ages with everyone around getting involved. Eating bits of food this crazy guy has blessed and danced around. I was even made to get involved and ended up with a dot on my forehead.
After the manic mangalore Tilly and I set off for a bit of quiet gentle fun. We have come to a tiny village which has a stunning beach and an old fort. We took a local bus (smelly, sweaty and crammed) to get here. While Tilly had a siesta, I went for a walkabout. I checked out the beach then went for a little climb around the fort.
