Onwards and upwards to the monkey temple. It's a long walk up a dusty hill. The sun is just beyond it's zenith, it's hot, proper hot, great weather for walking up a hill. We pass monkeys getting up to no good, dogs pretending to be monkeys (you have to see it to believe it), and a wild boar chewing on a dead dogs head. The temple is small, but the view of Jaipur Is well worth the effort. We are about to leave when I decide to have a closer look at a temp...

We leave the fort and kamil takes us to see some cenotaphs then on for a good lunch. The paneer Sosa was good but the vada was a let down. After lunch we get taken to the elephant living quarters and kamil tries to get us to go shopping for local crafts, but I will not be pushed and he gets a bit stroppy, lol. Tilly and I have rented a tuktuk for the day (£4.25 for the day) to see all of Jaipur. First to the Amber fort. What a place, nestled in the rocky hills 10 km outside Jaipur. We got lost for a couple of around the crumbling former capital. There are elephant rides up to the fort but I worry about the care the elephants receive so we walk up. The skyscraper are clear and the views astounding. Really good way to start our day sight seeing.

Ended up at 11:30 sat in a nice restaurant with them. Nice night in the end. I have come to a conclusion while over here: In England there are too many chiefs and not enough indians! In India there a very few chiefs and way too many Indians!
A day of enlightenment. A discussion on how to write a good book from a british based African writer called Ben okri, an excellent free lunch and chat with a very important government official, then a open debate on the post bin laden al Qaeda movement. Got a couple of books then back to the hotel for a beer to chill before we go back into town for a night of music.
