We get up early and go to raj ghat (where Gandhi was burned) which is a poignant park with a large structure around the funeral pyer.
We decide to walk the 1km to the jama masjid. Our first mistake as we have to navigate through a really poor and congested area of Delhi, the smell if urine is so strong and there are beggars everywhere. It takes a long time to make it through.
The jama is a huge crumbling structure surrounded by a park that is full of cheap stalls, beggars and to tillys delight, goats wearing christmas jumpers.....please see her blog for more on the goats!
Now for our second mistake of the day: we walk the 1/2 km to the red fort. It takes us even linger than double the distance before. Bloody beggars everywhere.
We finally get to the fort 10rps for Indians 250rps for us Brits! How bad us that. But it is quite a place and well worth the £3 each.
Now home......thank god, this place has some truly amazing things in it but these are surrounded by poverty and a level if rudeness that tires me out. We take a rickshaw home.
