Of course the day that I choose to leave Hue is the day that the sun is shining and everything is great. Awww well. I get checked out of my hotel and go and grab some food for the journey. I head over to the tourist office and wait for my bus. Vin comes along and we get to chat for a while and he recommends a place for me to go in Hoi An if I am looking to get a shirt made. Just need to quote his name and I get some discount apparently.

On the bus, not as fortunate as to get the fully reclined option this time. It isn't a big issue because I'm travelling during the day and the trip isn't too long. Of course, that is the idea but we are working on Vietnam time. The trip is great, as we wind our way through the mountains and along the coast. Only downside is that with the sun streaming through the window I am being cooked in my seat. I decide to bust out the iPod and the music gives a nice back drop to the scenery.

I get to Hoi An and again I have an idea about where to go for a hotel. Again there are plenty of people offering to take me, I decide again, to jump on and let one of them take me to a hotel. Another private room for $8, I can cope with that. I leave my stuff in and get a shower before heading down to reception where I get a map showing me the general area. Rather worryingly I am warned by the receptionist to not take out too much money, beware of anyone being nice to me and watch my valuables in the market area. Hopefully she is just being over cautious. I head down to the Japanese bridge, it is all lit up with lanterns and there is music playing through the old town. It has a great atmosphere, a very picturesque and enjoyable place to be.

I think a beer is in order and so I head over to this place where there is a woman outside, "come in sir, beer" again I have little choice. I grab a seat an order a beer. This couple beside me turn round and invite me to join them at their table. Turns out the guy is from England, Orta and the girl is from Lurgan, Gemma. Small world, I recognise her voice instantly. We chat for a good bit and indulge in some beers. Then we are just walking around and we get swamped with people giving us flyers for various pubs with alcohol promotions left, right and centre. We decide to check out a couple of the bars and get some free drink. We end up in a bar called Why Not? where there is a pool table an we end up getting a game of killer on the rip. ends up being about 15 of us. I don't see the time going in and before I know it, it's 3am, out I come and on the the back of a bike an back to my hotel, in the rain. My hotel is all locked up for the night and I have to shout for the guy who is sleeping the lobby, he opens up and lets me in. Bed time.
