So I notice that I only get a 2 week visa because I come across a land boarder, I would have got 4 weeks if I had flown. I had not known this, so I am going to have to devise some sort of a plan as time is short. I head to Starbucks with my lonely planet and notebook. I'm horrified to discover they don't have a gingerbread latte, or free wifi, but I get a coffee none the less. I grab a seat and have a look at what I want to do.

I come up with a plan to head north to Chiang Mai, stopping for a night in Sukothai, then a day trip to Chiang Rai. It is on a tight schedule as I want to be back down south at Ranong for the 4th, to hop in to Burma for the day and get my visa extension, then on to Ko Tao for a 5 day diving course. This is the most organised I have been for my whole travel. I don't like it! Too structured, too rushed, something I have not employed in my travel to date. I scour a few travel agents, to check the prices of my plan. Turns out to be expensive, not good. I check online and I can cut the cost of my bus the Sukothai by getting a taxi to the station and just buying the ticket. Of course the only problem with this is that I do not know what time I will be able to get a bus, never mind I'll just go early in the morning and wait around until there is one available.

I take a dander round the nearby area because I'm looking to change to some cheaper accommodation. I spend most of the afternoon going in and out of guest houses and hotels only to find that the cheap ones are terrible and the good ones are too expensive. My hotel is somewhere in the middle in therms of price, so I'll probably just end up staying here. I have a look at my map and plan my temple run tomorrow. There are literally so many that I think I would grow bored if I did them all, so a quick check online produces the most popular ones and I pick my selection. No tuk tuk required, I will be able to walk to them all tomorrow, disappointingly, the royal palace requires me to wear trousers so I'll have to hoke out my zip ons.

I end up just getting some dinner in a local place on my own. As I am in a hotel I do not get the opportunity to meet new people and that was one of the other reasons that I wanted to move hostels. After dinner I just head home and get an early night because I want to get up early and hit the temples before the scorching sun comes up to greet me.
