Another day of rest and relaxation for me. Though by lunch time I do decide to leave the hostel and take a walk around the town, and i'm glad that I did. I dander around looking at all the usual tourist tat that is available. It's amazing how at the start of my trip this all seemed so fascinating, but now, having seen it so many times, it doesn't have the same appeal. Still interesting though. I enjoy walking through the narrow little streets with the cute little houses and the fusion of cultures that are here.

I stop off to get some lunch in a relatively nice place, the pricing reflects this. I opt for some local Malay food that was top notch, the Melaka coffee on the other hand was horrible, a sour watery concoction, not good. To remove the taste of this from my mouth I decide to splash out and order myself a Guinness, I ask for a pint and I get a half pint, things are not looking good. I decide just to drink it, it was half the price so I may as well. I has a nice wee shamrock in the head and so with a salivating mouth I have a mouthful. How disappointing. Watery tripe. I don't hang around with the drink of it, down the hatch and back to the hostel.

As it is the weekend there is a food market in the town and so a group of us head out from the hostel. The students, Titus, Peiwei, JS and Sophia, a Spanish guy, Danny and a couple of Germans, Karen and Daniella. We get down to the market and it is the usual situation of not being able to decide where to eat, or what table to sit at. I can really see how my eating habits have changed. There are very few occasions when I really want to have something in particular. Most of the time I am just happy with anything, I would have thought that this would make the situation easy, but no. Anyway, I just sit at a table and tell Peiwei to pick something for me, I find this is the best way to try new things. I have given up trying to remember all the local names and so I operate on a policy of, that one and this one. Ha. We eat up everything and I get everyone to try a chilli in some ice cream thing before we head over to a stage to see one of the strangest renditions of Gunnam Style I have ever seen. It was like a slow line dancing number with grannies and kids and everything. Very strange, but very entertaining.

Back to normality and we head to a bar. One of the streets that I had walked down earlier and was empty, has been transformed in to a street full of bars. Nice. We grab a table and have some beers, everyone except Peiwei and Sophia are having some drinks. I'll be honest we stayed out for a significant time, which was a bad idea considering that I plan to leave tomorrow. It is never something that enters the mind when I hear the words 'Marty, want another beer?'
