Up at a reasonable time and down for breakfast, which had a few options, with my fry I could have either the chicken sausage or the beef bacon, how bizarre, the sausage for me. There was also toast and fruit and tea or coffee, a really good feed. We plan what we are going to do with our time here and there is talk about getting a Moto, Bali is much bigger than I thought and is completely different to what I had expected. I have a look online and I can see many people talking about how dangerous it is to rent a bike in Bali, for some reason I am apprehensive, even though I have been on many a Moto, I'm sure in worse places. Anyway we decide to rent and the hotel has it delivered to us, great service. I get a Honda Vario and I must say it is much better than the Honda Waves that I have seen elsewhere in Asia, feels more like Jessie........

Off we go, to a temple out in the ocean, not to far from where we are staying in Kuta. It's called Tanah Lot and although it doesn't look that far on the map, it ends up taking us over an hour to get there because the traffic is so bad. Normally in traffic you can negate the congestion by just nipping up the side of the cars, or up the middle, but not in Bali, the roads are so narrow that there is just no way to gain any ground. So it is like city driving for the whole time due to the narrow roads and the volume of cars, as a result when we get to Tanah Lot I am absolutely wrecked. We park the Moto up and head through all the tourist stalls, there is all the usual tat before we get down to the sea front. The tide is out and so we can walk along the rocks out to the temple, but we can't get inside, just look from afar. It's nice here being down by the sea, with the sun shining down. There is a queue of people waiting to get blessed with some holy water, then they place some rice grains on your head and a flower in your hair. Not one that I think would look too good on me, but many an Asian man is sporting the look. Miao queues up while I take some coastal shots. She looks ridiculous with rice on her head, I laugh. We hang around for the sunset that never happened due to the heat haze and some low lying clouds. Back to the Moto and it is time for some good old night time driving, my favourite. Coming back is much quicker than the trip there and the driving at night is not as bad as I thought it might have been. I even manage to completely fluke driving down the street that our hotel is on, of course I tell Miao that this was my plan all along.

After a quick shower we head down to the beach front to get something to eat. We get a taxi as we are not sure how far it is. Turns out it is not far at all and when we get out of the taxi the driver is not pleased with the small fare. I hand him a large note and he claims he is not a mini mart and doesn't have any change. Pure lies. Luckily between the two of us we have enough small change to cover the cost. We enter the tourist mecha that is the beach front in Kuta. Everything I don't like all piled in to a strip along the coast. We find a hawker stall type place and are having a look at the menus, there are literally rows upon rows of waiters and waitresses calling us over to check out what they have to sell. We get chatting to a guy who is telling us that he has the best food in the world. I call him on it and he tells me that if I don't like it, I can eat for free. Ha. Sure why not, I let him order for me, ensuring that he doesn't pick the most expensive thing on the menu and then we take a seat and have some beers. When the food arrives they guy waves his hands over it to complete the process, he is good craic, and the food was good also. We walk along the beach after to help the food down before heading back, not to anger any more taxi drivers.
