Hi Peeps!!
Well we got to Sydney ok and started on our hunt for jobs and a flat etc. The next day we got up and called a few job agencies and then went to the internet café to send in our CV's to loads more and then had some breakfast and a wee nap before our first flat viewing. The guy picked us up at their local train station and we went back to the flat, its in Dulwich Hill and it looked really nice on the outside, a nice newish apartment block n the inside not quite so ice but mirrored wardrobes and a queen bed and TV in the room for rent so we decided to take it!! Its really handy for the station and totally cheap $200 a week for both of us, its got a wee bit of a Lothian House feel inside but not as bad lol! As we had a flat we just blew off all the other viewings and went out for tea for a celebration and had a bottle of red wine, not a box of goon, an actual proper bottle lol!! After tea we were so stuffed and went back home and slept lol!!
Next day it was up early and up to Vinnie's which is actually a charity shop here to see if we could get some bed clothes which we couldn't and then we went down to Travellers Express as she said to come between 9 - 4 so we went at 9am to look keen lol but the lassie was a bit of a donut herself so there was no need to actually try and impress her. It is the kind of place who give your CV to all other agencies who have relevant positions available and then they call you so not the best as it doesn't result in a job too quickly but better than nowt!! Then it was off to the internet to send more CV's then up to Freespirit who are also the same kind of agency but this lass seemed to have more of a clue probably as she was Scottish, she lived in Roseburn and her parents stayed in Corstorphine!!! She was a bit more use and the general outcome of both interviews was that jobs are thin on the ground the now but Craig should get placed quite easily as there are a few Collections jobs available and she said I have more of a chance than most as I have more experience and qualifications than most so hopefully it wont be too bad, I cant believe I actually want to work, makes a change lol!! When we came out Craig had a missed call from a labouring guy so we called him and he said to go straight away to start so we went to the web to see how to get to it, it was a train and two buses away and we didn't have a clue so the guy said he would see if he could someone to pick him up the next day but the guy never called so basically we wasted an hour faffing on the net for nowt which was quite annoying but at least it meant we could move in together and I didn't have t attempt it with all the bags myself lol which would have been impossible! We went to Coles and got some cleaning supplies. I felt like Madam K, I had my plug in and everything lol! We got to the flat and as we walked into it I said to Crag it could do with an air freshener just as Ryan our new landlord came through and said Hi lol - cringe! We wiped down all the wardrobe and then I emptied my bag and unrolled all my clothes and HUNG THEM UP, I was cheesing have been waiting on this moment for ages and I seem to have lots too, I have gotten rid of like half of what I had I reckon and I don't know how I have ever carried it all!! We also got all our stuff out and chucked our backpacks up on a high shelf out of sight!! The one thing I shud mention about this flat is that there is no electric as Ryan is never here so he just lets the tenants sort it out so I arranged for the electricity guy to come the next day and switch it on. At night I scrubbed the bath with bleach in anticipation of my nice long hot bath the next day once the power had been switched on and we could have hot water.
So next day we got up and had porridge for breakfast on the portable gas hob lol complete with cup of tea from a pot of boiling water lol! To cut a long story short the electric guy had still not been by about 6pm so I called and they said it was all fine and then still nothing so they gave me a number for the ones who are meant to come out and they said that the first company never had any right to say it could be switched on as the account has $900 owing on it and we don't have a lease to show we just moved in so Ryan has to take responsibility for it. So when he came back he called them and they don't even allow part payment or anything like they would do at hoe to have it switched on so now he is trying to sort something out so I am quite worried it never gets sorted as we really like it here and get on well with Ryan and he is never in so we get then place ourselves quite a lot so I hope it gets sorted, even if it doesn't im tempted to just put up with it. Craig and Ryan went to Dominos and we had some wine. Ryan had the idea that he could use the building's electric like for the hall lights etc so he had a yellow extension cable so Craig and him sat in the car waiting on the pizzas colouring in a yellow cable with black markers lol and we plugged this in outside from the bathroom window and got light and TV and got our stuff charged - woop woop!!! Also we have constant flow from the kitchen tap which is quite annoying as it drips all the time.
Yesterday we went into Marrickville just down the road and put our washing in the laundry and had some internet time and went to Woolies to get some food that can survive without a fridge all of this was after a freezig cold shower where Craig had to thrown jugs of water over my hair so I could get my shampoo out quicker lol, I thought my lungs were going to stop working it was freezing!! We got home and played cards and I made spag bol which is really hard by the way with one hob! Then last night we couldn't get the electric door on to sneak in our cable once it was dark but it was locked but Ryan came back so we had power again! We had a few drinks, called home and tried to work out a way to make the rest of our trip cost less and then called about to see about changing stuff but people charge so much for changing things that it practically works out not worth it but we are gonna try and call on Monday when more things are open.
Today we got up, attempted to make a fry up and had cold showers and went into Sydney sort of for something to do and sort of to look at the net in this cheap internet café. We think we are gonna cancel our tour in South America and it ourselves in less time to save some money but not sure. We came home and made mince n tatties and Ryan loved thm and he loves Irn Bru now too, we are turning everyone Scottish lol! Now I am typing this my candle light as we don't have the cable in yet and Ryan is plaing his guitar and singing my requests, Bon Jovi, Kings of Leon and Robbie Williams amongst other things. It may not be the best situation but its not actually that bad really I just hope he sorts it out soonish. Meanwhile Origin Australia will be getting a nasty call from me tomorrow after telling me all day Friday they were on their way when they were never coming in the first place, imagine I had lost a days wages waiting in, not impressed!
Anyhoo the next few days are just gonna be waiting by the phone and job searching so probably wont have much to report and hopefully next time I write we will have electricity and hot water an a fridge lol cos even when it gets plugged in it still doesn't work lol!
Hope you are all well at home and enjoying the first snowfall lol!!
Lots of Love
Eva and Craig xxx
