Hi All, We left our campsite and headed along the road past all the lakes and stopped for lunch and internet. We stopped at night in a lay-by to have dinner and sleep. The next day we got up and there was an Australian Vinnie, he was cute! We started the drive up towards Canberra and got some good photos with all the signs for the big cities and stopped and had some soup in a lay-by. We drove further north and all the way up the road there were lots of kangaroos, no live ones, all just dead ones on the side of the road. It was a wee shame. At night we stopped in another picnic site lay-by. The toilets are s wrong here, they are just toilets that drop down to a big pile at the bottom where worms etc eat it all and they use it as fertiliser, so minging!! This lay-by felt a bit safer as there were two other couples camping too. At night we went to the loo and I saw something and we got such a fright but it was carrier bag, phew!! Next day we drove up to Canberra and got a campsite for a much needed shower and then had a wee drive about Canberra which was hard to find stuff in so we ended up going to the cinema to see Body of Lies which was pretty good. At night we did our phone calls home. The next day we had 2 whole days to drive about 3 hours to Sydney so we didn't drive very far and found a lay-by with the customary Plop 'n' Drop as Craig calls them and played chess and cards and read. A big bunch of oriental tourists stopped and completely messed up the loos, ie went on the floor!! So gross. In the morning we woke up and our whole camper was covered in ants so we got away sharpish and stopped in Wollongong which was quite a dump and we saw some big bruiser dragging a screaming lassie down the road in a headlock, nice guy! We had a walk about and I wasn't feeling well and we decided we just couldn't handle another night in the camper. As you can probably tell we have spent a lot of time in lay-bys and there is not much to do there and I have read 4 books in 8 days and desperately wanted a bath so we found a cheap motel and all thanks to Uncle Visa and had baths and washed our underwear and watch tv, they even had animal planet! It was amazing! The net day we got up and sorted out our camper and drove into Sydney and managed to find a hostel and drop our bags and then dropped off our camper. The address we had, we drove there and I tried to drive it in off the main road into the shop floor beside the other ones but it turned out I was meant to drive to the garage lol, that took a while to get out of lol! Thee hostel was a dump and the staff were more interested in playing football and their ipods than sorting out the fact that they had put us in a room with one bed but we got it sorted and were upgraded to a private cupboard. We saw Kavanagh on the rent due board and low and behold it was as we thought our pal Andy who we always bump into lol! Sydney is nicer than I thought, although it a big city, its not too dirty or in your face. The next day we got up and had quite a productive morning, we got our new tax numbers for working, picked up our Stevie Wonder tickets, opened bank accounts and went to see the travel agent about a dead for up north. There are loads of booklets with offers here which is good as we are getting free nights in hostels and money off stuff etc we also found a voucher for a free tank of petrol for our camper after we had took it back, typical, at least it wasn't as expensive as the NZ camper for petrol! In the afternoon we went to our new hostel which is in the Newtown area of Sydney, very cosmopolitan and a bit quieter, it has a pool as wee but its in the shade so its not really warm enough. We spent the afternoon doing our hoards of washing from the camper and had a walk around tea after dinner. I'm sure the mince was off but luckily we are ok. Last night we watched Trainspotting which made us a bit homesick lol!Today we have just been bumming around the hostel to save some money for when Kirsty comes on Tuesday so we have more for then and there is no point going to things twice either. It has a good movie room and free internet too so its not too bad. I'm sure our next blog will be a bit more interesting lol with more going on than lay-bys!!Hope everyone is well at home. Happy Birthday Andrew, hope you enjoyed your carvery!!Lots of LoveEva and Craig xxx
