It was a good morning with a lovely breakfast provided by the hotel. And a crisp clear day to Bundled up in a down jacket with a nice scarf to match my outfit and set out for the Van Gogh museum a beautiful museum with a wonderful collection. And amazing marketing! Lunch was at a nearby restaurant - Blushing - with healthy food and a modem design. Then to the Rijks museum. The Rembrandt paintings are so different from the Van Goghs of course. Joey preferred the Rijk museum era paintings but I preferred van Goghs. Good we saw both! And the museums housing the two art styles we different as well. And I had no idea the Rijk had a huge library. I must have missed it last time I was here. On the way out we passed two separate street musicians - a classic European singer and an updated Indian musician. Since we took the#5 bus around to the museums we figured we would continue around in a circle and take it back to Centraal station - but no - it didn't go in a circle and we took it to end of the line! It was an I took at the outskirts of the city... So we got on the #5 bus heading back - and by the time we returned to Centraal Station it was raining- hard. So to get back to the hotel that was way across the road, we decided to go down in the metro and cross the street below ground. Sounds reasonable, right? We must've done something wrong because we just ended up on the opposite side is the station, and it was just as far across the square to walk through the rain to the hotel... But that is what we had to do. It was easiest to eat dinner at the same blues restaurant as the day before -a half block from the hotel - and we could try another Dutch dish or two, which were both excellent, and inexpensive. And back to the hotel!
