The last two mornings here in Amsterdam I haven't made my own coffee as I did on the ship, using the bullet proof coffee that I brought with me. Or perhaps it is the food that I've been eating – I have definitely been off the diet. And last night I could not sleep. All night long I almost fell asleep and then popped awake- itching like crazy all over, and finally at 6 AM I was able to sleep 4 1/2 hours. This was going to be the day when we went to the beautiful Keukenhof gardens. I don't think I should be walking around the gardens with my lack of sleep, so we will be putting it off until tomorrow. Instead we decided to find the floating flower market – which was very interesting – but it's not really floating. I think we are misled. We expected boats buckets of flowers spilling over the sides, but that was not the case. We did stop at a cheese shop. I think my favorite one (although it was a bit overwhelming) was the goat cheese with lavender. And yes, it was purple. And then we started walking towards the museum area in order to see the Moco museum with Banksy and Dali exhibits . Before we arrived at the museum, however, we came across a pharmacy so I stopped in to find out if there was something that i could purchase to help me stop pitching. She suggested Zyrtec. I will try that tonight as she said that it will help me stop itching and that will put me to sleep. I have zero knowledge about medications, whether over the counter or under, so I will give it a try. In case it does not work, she gave me the card to for a tourist doctor to contact tomorrow but I am hoping that I will not need it. We considered going to the Bulldog Café because my brother recommended it – it's a coffee shop – which means that it legally sells pot. Turns out it is only legal to sell to tourists in Amsterdam city. Everywhere else in Holland you must be a citizen to purchase. But I didn't really feel like sitting in a bunch of smoke while eating, when I'm already itching like crazy. So instead we opted for a restaurant close by. We stopped for a late lunch and I of course had to visit the ladies room so I took pictures at this restaurant of bathroom indicators as well. We did not choose well, other than the bathroom door pix: joey had lasagna and I had a hamburger (hold the bun). Mediocre. Then we ran to the MOCO museum to see the Banksy and Dali exhibits before they closed. The ground floor had a film about Dali's life - was interesting! Banksy on the other hand was kind of weird. Not surreal or dada, but I guess kind of tongue in cheek, "humorous/**** da pigs" art... There was a cute but strange Mickey Mouse sculpture in the garden on the way out. We then walked to the tram and waited for the proper one (thank you local lady for the tip) to get back to Centraal station. On the walk from there to our hotel it struck me how many bikes there are - everywhere!! And because today is Joeys birthday, we had s drink at the Skylounge, compliments of the hotel. Happy Cinco de Mayo!!
