We have arrived in Vientiane after our long yet interesting bus journey! Our hotel in clean and simple, a welcome relief since the last hell hole!
Paap is not feeling well, so she stays in whilst we head around the city for a bit of a look see. Vientiane is a lovely city set on the banks of the Mekong. We headed through the city down to the river. You can see Thailand over the other side of the river, which is quite low this time of year. The locals are out and about in numbers, there are quite a few different outdoor exercise classes, a cross between aerobics and dancing. It's kinda cool they do this and there are also a few different exercise machines you can use for free. There is also a bustling night market beside the esplanade, it's all quite delightful!
We headed to a restaurant called Makphet, which translated means chilli. It's a restaurant which supports the community by training under privileged young people to work in the restaurant. The food was good, my choice was a little bland but everyone else's was great apparently.
It also shows locals how to make products out of recycle items such as paper and magazines into jewellery, wallets and many other things.
After that we headed back to the hotel to watch a movie and sleep!
