We've arrived in Luang Prabang! We arrive around 5pm and get into a tuk tuk to our guesthouse. I'm happy to be here as this is one of the places I have been most looking forward to visiting.
Our guesthouse is about a 5-10min drive from town. It's totally worth it though, we are at the Thong Bay guesthouse which has gorgeous rooms in traditional style, big comfy beds, lovely gardens and super friendly staff. It's so awesome I have a tear in my eye as most of the places we have stayed at have been pretty ordinary!
We head out for dinner in town to a place called Tamarind. It cooks traditional Lao food with a modern twist. I got the set menu with Tony & Paap. We got bamboo soup, chicken lemongrass, buffalo, fish, sticky rice, weed chips, dips and sweet purple sticky rice for dessert! So much bloody food! My advice is stay away from the bamboo soup! Just saying!
After dinner a few of us headed to a local bar called Utopia, really funky place that featured really drunk tourists celebrating Australia day. We didn't stay long as we had eaten too much!! After one beer we went back to the guesthouse...! What an anti-climax for Australia day, oh well there is always next year!

Dewi Yes, I will be there Friday night. I have a dgegod-earred copy of the the Senior Skip Day attendance sheet dated March 12, 1971 (Friday). What a fun and beautiful day that was! I would like to have this included on-line but would need to give it to someone to scan. Suggestions?
