i know we are getting pretty rubbish at putting photos on and talking about the views. most of our photos are on facebook but hopefully we'll get more on here soon.
this is where the tour gets abit blurry for me cos i cant remember what days i did what on and where we were on what days. i think after we picked all the new people up we head to waitomo where amy, emma and laura did black water rafting and kim did a cave walk/tour thing. The black water rafting consisted of sitting in an inner tube and floating down a water course in a cave with nothing but a wetsuit and helmet on. there was also a few waterfalls in which we had to jump off - which was great fun.we arrived at our accommodation which was nice, but to lauras luck her bed had more stains on it and lumps of hair that someone had left for her. the accommodation was like a little hut, it had an up stairs which was pretty impressive compared to what we've perviously stayed in. kim set off on her walk through the caves and the rest of us got on the bus to raft in some dark caves. when we got there we had some pretty mental tour guides for the rafting, it made me a little nervous to start with. we all got kitted out with wetsuits that absolutely stunk and was wet, it must have took us 15 minutes to put them on. we got our rubber rings and headed to the practise river to practice jumping down waterfalls in our rubber rings. the guy took us to a high bridge to jump off at first, and when i saw it my heart sank i couldnt believe i'd paid money to possibly kill my sen. anyway it turned out he was just joking with us. we only jumped off little water fall drops so i felt much better after that. we headed into the caves and all had to do the gay thing of introducing our sens to each other and after that we set off to do some rafting. amy got chose to lead the group into these caves, i was pretty scared as there were very dark and i didnt know where the hell i was leading people to. its a good job we wore helmets cos i walked straight into a rock with my head as soon as we'd set off. the first bit of water we had to go in was the worst out of all of it. we had to sit in our rings and raft through what looked like a 3inch gap of water and rocks. at this point i wasnt sure i could go through with it as i became very clostrophobic but after that i loved every minute of what was to come.
after getting through the smallest gap in the world we walked up to our first waterfall we had to jump off. we had to get the rubber ring and fit it around our arses then jump backwards off the waterfall. it wasnt very high at all but scary when you are jumping first on your own into a black cave with eels and god knows what in there. Amy was brave and went for it. after this we just paddled through the caves for a while in the pitch black. our guides stopped us and told us to look up at the roof of the cave. we did, and what we saw was glowworms. they lit up the roof with green lights, which the lights actually turned out to be there poo. but it was amazing to see. we carried on abit further and jumped off a few more waterfalls, then headed back for soup and bagels.
sorry we are not doing well with this blog thing, amy is taking hands into her own matter to keep on top of it.
