Arrived in Auckland to sun, sea and NO RAIN!! we landed on the 14th after a very fast and comfortable flight. We headed straight to the hostel to meet kim. the hostel was quite nice considering, however it had no windows, which in the night can make you feel very colosophobic and i thought that this must be what its like to be in prison. we meet up with kim in our room and headed for a nutrious meal of mcdonalds and ice - cream and headed to the globe bar for a swift half as all drinks were $ 5. Amy and Kim headed for an early one but me and emma decided to party with the big boys. we lasted another hour and a half. hardcore!! After a good sleep everyone bar from me who was poorly (had the s***s) went for a wander round and look at all that Auckland had to offer. we walked down to the harbour and got tempted off this woman to have some Jin (thats Gin with a J) and got very sun burnt while enjoying our drinks. Amy burnt head legs and head pretty bad and is now peeling badly. The hostel was giving away free pizza, so we all decided to have a cheap night. Emma havin def more than her share, more like the whole of aucklands share of pizza. after this we headed to a Arctic monkeys gig which was great. we watched Zane Lowe do abit of Djing before hand. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the monkeys with a glass of jagermeister in my hand and having a sing a long, this must just be the sheffieldness in me.
The next day everyone planned to get up early and catch the ferry to davenport, which is like a 12 minute boat ride from auckland harbour. However we woke up at 11am and we didnt have time to fit it in. i think this is because we was staying in a prison and dint know what time of day it was. Today was the day of the big day out festival and Malley had so kindly sorted us out with some tickets. we had a spot of lunch (subway) and caught the bus to the festival. It was a rite nice day and we all ploughed on the suncream, however still managed to get burnt!!
The festival was a really good day, even though we only knew about 3 bands one of which being the prodigy. Amy had been waiting all day to hear them sing one song - so we made our way to the tent. to our suprise it was some kind of sweat and drug pit with 100's of people sweating and preforming some kind of rave type dance. the smell was horrible and we weren't even inside!!,. Amy even got outdanced by a few 50 year olds. We decided it was time to go as we could not stand the smell but we had to wait for "out of space" to come on as its Amys favourite. it turned out to be the last song and although good was not worth the pain and sufferin enjured. In Amys opinion it was well worth the wait. the monkeys played pretty well although im sure they bleeped out the swear words when they were singing. after the festival we headed bk for an early night. much to amys suprise, laura kept talking and her phone kept buzzing so we ended up not getting much sleep that night and had a very early start the next day as we was starting our contiki tour of new zealand.
