after the contiki lot dropped us off to say bye, we was heading to dunedin to what i was looking forward to the most, PENGUINS!. it was alittle sad saying bye to all the people we had met on the tour because we had spent a whole 2 weeks together being drunk, doing extreme adventages and playing the best card game ever. and now we was saying bye to them all. Laura loved all the hugs and attention everyone gave her, i wish we'd got a photo of her face everytime someone hugged her. after saying our farewells, we had one last night in queenstown before heading to Dunedin. I went out to meet some friends from bk in sheffield and emma, laura and kim stayed in and fell asleep until i woke them up at 3 in the morning trying to find my pjs.
the next day we had a 7.30am coach journey to dunedin which took 4 hours in total. when we got there we made our way to the hotel, after having to wait an hour to check in, we got to our rooms much to our delight that it was absolutely fantastic, my decision to stay here was the best i've made on this travel so far. however some of the other lasses moaned that the shower was see through, however i didnt think it was and didnt really care anyway as this was the nicest hotel we'd been in so far. so for the rest of that day we did some food shopping as we needed to cut bk alittle on spending way too much money on going out to eat in nice resturants and came back to the hotel and pretty much slept for 11 hours that night.
the next day was the most exciting trip we'd done so far, in my opinion. we had the afternoon to wonder round and shop for a new water proof jacket as mine broke when i needed it the most. and as i knew we was goin on a boat today i had to buy one and it was alittle expensive then i wanted it to be (so im apologising to my mum and dad now when they open my credit card bill) but its a good one and will last me til im a 90 year old woman or it better do for what i paid for it. anyway we went to the info centre where the tour guide was picking us up from and as we sat in the van with these two old american women he decided to tell us that the boat we are goin on is still running even when the wind was blowing 80knots, so i obviously started to crap my sen. then i thought we'll probably get the boat and they wont let us go on with the wind being that bad.....
well i was wrong, we got on the boat and set sail in search for albatrosses, sealions and fur seals. it was probably the worst boat trip i'd ever been on but was well worth it as we got to see so much. we got to see so many albotrosses flying around us and the tour guide said it was 80% chance that anyone will ever see them fly like that as they usually fly far out at sea and come to the land to breed. so i felt lucky and got some cracking photos of them flying. we also got to see seals close up on the rocks with there little babies. on the way back to shore the boat journey got even worse and we couldn't stay on the front of the boat and had to go inside as we was facing the waves, but some dumb chinease people stayed on the front of the boat and i was amazed to see as we docked that they actually managed to stay on the boat without being chucked overboard, even tho it looked like they had jumped in the sea and climbed back on the boat as they were soaked.
after the boat journey we headed in the bus to go spot some fur seals and PENGUINS. we got to the top of a massive hill on some private farm land and then had a trek to the beach which we would see the penguins coming in from the sea to feed there babies. we got to the beach and there was about 4 big seals play fighting and some laid on the beach, so was very interesting to watch the seals for abit just playing with each other. we sat in this little hut and waited to see the penguins coming in and as they were seals in the beach the penguins tend to got to the shore see the seals then turn back and swim back out to sea for abit. but the more we kept watching the more penguins were coming on to the shore and taking there chances on getting past the seals to climb up the hill to feed there baby chicks. it was absolutely amazing to see the rarest penguins in the world in the wild running up the beach front as fast as they could to get up the hill to feed baby penguins, it truely made my day and my holiday in new zealand. we carried on walking up the hill and saw the little chicks waiting for their parents to come feed them. after spending an hour of so watching we headed bk up to the top of the massive hill we'd climbed down, it nearly gave me a heart attack walking up it, then we walked back down the other side to see loads and loads of seals playing and feeding. this also was truely amazing to see animals actually in the wild and watching their behaviour. ive got good photos and videos that i'll be putting up soon, as i should be looking for a job right now. but yeah.. was absolutely fantastic and just watching the waves crash on to the cliffs were all the seals was, was unreal, i couldnt believe i was stood watching all this in new zealand and it was snowing back home. we had another tiring walk back up to the top of the hill and got back in the van to go back to the hotel.
that night i made emma, laura and kim come out and meet up with my friends for the last time as i may not see them until i go home. it wasnt a big night as we all had to be up early on a 7.30am bus but i had a great time seeing them and a randon guy that came with my mates who happened to live in the next town to laura - yes the essex accent got on my nerves after a while (no offense) we watched abit of tennis with them then went to the hotel for a couple of hours sleep before we had a 6 hour coach journey to christchurch and the last of staying in nice hotels and the last of kim joining us on our travels, so we was going to make her last night in christchurch something to remember..... and it was, just not the way i was wanting it to end.
