we finally started our contiki tour on saturday 17th. after a very hard 7 minute walk down the road with our back packs and stash of booze, we got to the hotel were we was getting on the bus. When the journey got going and the tour manager kept going on, i thought to my sen 'what have i got my sen into?' it is pretty much a 18-35s holiday, there was quite afew people just out to get drunk. but i was going to be tempted with alcohol to have a good time. so after a 3 hour journey we arrived at the bay of islands and was it was pretty impressive views. we instantly started our fun excursions with an a fast boat ride called the excitor. when it started it was really good fun, we was getting splashed alot from the waves as the boat was going very fast but it suddenly started to turn bad. a big massive wave came over board and wiped out Kim, Laura and Emma. it was a very hard wave and so people got injuried when this happened, like hurt necks and swallowed alot of sea water so some people were even choking, like Kim. so after that little scare the boat driver calmed it down abit, and we had a pleasent journey back to dry land. Amy loved every minute of it and never moaned once about the waves unlike some wussies. after that we got to our accommodation and found it very nice compared to all the hostels, we actually had a fridge in the room and much to amys delight about 5 windows just in her bedroom. we all got showered and had afew malibu and cokes and headed out for tea and a fews drinks in some of the bars.
the next was a very early start, 6:30am to be exact. and when you've had a few too many drinks the night before a full day on a boat wasnt looking like a good idea. the weather wasnt really good either, it was rainy and windy so the worst weather for boating. anyway we started to get into the journey. amy and laura thought it'd be a good idea to stand at the front of the boat but we got splashed by a massive wave so we sat bk inside. we some lots of dolphins aswell. there was a big group of them which had baby dolphins in as well, and they kept jumping and swimming at the side of the boat. half way round the bay of islands we switched boats to a smaller one which took us to one of the island and we got some free time to explore it. Kim climb up to the top of the island, emma topped up her tan while laura and amy attempted to snorkel. the scenery was absolutely fantasitc at the top of the island you could see for miles at all the little islands we had gone past on the boat on the way there. the boat journey bk to the main land was alittle rough and laura and emma sat on the side and got drenched by all the waves. we then went bk to the hotel got dolled up and headed for a meal and party on a boat. out of all the meals we've ate so far, the steak amy got on the boat was the best meal i'd had while being over here, it was proper nice (but didnt compare to my nan nans sunday dinner which im missing the most). we had our meal and afew drinks and watched the sunset on the boat then headed bk to land as the next day we had a few hours jounery bk down the north island to auckland to pick up more people joining our tour
