"Good Morning Baltimoreeeeee, Everydays like an open door, every night is a fantasy, every sound like a symphony.. Good morning Baltimoreeeeee" .. Tracey Turnblad and Hairspray, we love you..
A cheeky visit to White trash town Baltimore, which I absolutely loved! Guess I am just white trash!? Any how, it was absolutely chucking it down so we had a sneak peek at the harbour and wandered around the mall! As we were walking back to the car we both walked past an old black guy and he whispered in both of our ears.. Ummm.. Creeeeeepy!
Then we made our way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to spend the weekend! Arrived evening and the place we were staying had a pub crawl.. Well, it would've been rude not to join. After lugging our luggage up about ten flights of stairs and sweating like a beast, we got ready and hit the vodka. We discussed how many bottles of vodka we had drunk between the two of us since being away, just pre drinking, and I am extremely ashamed.. However, you only live once so whyyyy the hell not aye?
We headed to a couple of bars with a group of guys from the hostel. They were fun and tried a few new drinks before heading home about oneish..
Up and fresh in the morning and time to explore Philly! This place is home to lots of famous people including Jefferson and Franklin.. Now if any of you know who they are if you could email me to let me know that would be just great! The city is really pretty though, it's got an old school London Victorian vibe to it, with red brick buildings and cobble roads. I like it! Firstly, we went to see a $5 palm reader to see if she said anything similar to the other one.. The answer was not really. Josie's reading was shocking and mine wasnt much better.. Good job it was only $5!! Otherwise id be asking for my dollar back...
We wandered round, and headed to a really cute busy Market and went to visit China Town! So had a really nice day, before heading back to watch Dinner for Shmucks for the 3rd time since I've been away. The film never gets old, it's so funny! "I wanna be a penquin"!! Also, facetimed Goonie Prune to chat about the up and coming rugby semi finals!!
Friday night came, and we embarked on a ghost tour of the city. Stopped at lots of "haunted" places.. With lots of scary stories about the city life. One being that a ghost horse chasing a shadow down one of the main streets.. Scary shiiiit, maaaan! Philadelphia is a pretty scary place I must say.
After some drinks at one of the guys from the hostels apartment, we headed out to a couple of places. Dennis made me up what is now my new favourite drink... Sambuka and Water.. It's so nice!! And me, Josie, Dennis and THE most boring Irish guy in the entire world had pitchers of bud light to keep us entertained through the evening! The Irish guy almost made me slit my wrists with the topic of conversation. I mean, politics on a Friday night? It should be made illegal. I did not ever in a million years think that I would say that I'd meet an Irish person and didn't want them to stop talking.. However, he was just ridiculously mono tone and i would've paid him A LOT of money to shut up! Due to the lack of interesting conversation, me and Josie ditched the boys to head to an Irish pub that was playing the semi finals of the Wales v France game! Both of us were dressed in red, showing how proud we were of Wales!! ... The game wasn't on til 4am, and we both got pretty drunk too early and headed back to the hostel to catch the game online.. Shame Josie fell asleep and we couldn't actually watch it.. So live updates on the iPhone it was!! Shame about the result, but proud to be Welsh none the less!!
Saturday morning arrived with dirty hangovers. We made our way to a Market which was having a harvest festival, with hay stacks and live bands. .. On our way i decided to pull my dress up and rearrange my top underneath, not thinking there was anyone around.. However, a few steps down, a man shouts out his window.. "yeah, i seen that".. How extremely embarrassing and classy of me!
We tried a Philly cheese steak, as apparently it's the Philadelphia must do and it certainly cured our hangovers before going back to the hostel to do... Absolutely nothing for the rest of the day! We got our quilts and watched Old School, Devil, Bridesmaids and Sucker Punch.. As well as skyping the ever funny Dan and Suzie.. Then headed to bed for a full day at New Jersey on Sunday...
Only 4 days left of our auto-mobile now before it'll be time to say goodbye to the brum brum.. Before heading to Boston, Maine, New Hamshire and New York.. Where very exciting and fun times will be had!!
This weekend has sort of been a recovery/rehab weekend as now I am feeling refreshed and back in party mode. Bring.it.on.
Missing y'all ;)
