Day 2 of 3 at Crescent Head -
Jusus Christ it can really rain here -woke up with the rain on and off all night.
We got up about 8 for breakfast then had first session of the day - high tide and lumpy sums it up ok, again 1-2ft. I guess it was an ok session, standard 2 hours long.
In our 'free time' between surfs we had lunch then I walked the beaches. The location is awsome. One beach East facing, then a head land and the other 90 degrees round to the North is a North facing beach.
Second session was so so sick! The tide dropped out and sets of 3-4ft with the occasional 5ft pushed through. The beachies here are just soo good compared to the close out s*** we have at home! Even on the giant foam boards most of us managed to get out back. Me and one other guy are easily the best in the group but he was a bit nervous in bigger stuff. I was absolutely loving it, dropping in super early and getting really long rides. Shame it only lasted about an hour before swell dropped off a bit to 2/3ft sets. (Shame that guy isn't on the instructors course, we got on really well and had a healthy competition going on).
Anyway, after 2/2.5 hours 'Antman' got us all out the water, by which time a lot of people were spent anyway so probably a good thing. As we did a post-surf chat on the beach he pointed out the couple of seagulls hovering over what turned out to be bait fish in the lieup where we were sitting. He then went on to say 'we don't know what's underneath those bait fish'...and then informed us the area is known to have a healthy shark population... Sick.
