Today I got up about 8am to another beautiful sunny day. Before breakfast Saskia and I went to check the surf, which was marginally better than yesterday but still far from great. The wind had dropped and there was a lot of swell around. About 4 guys were out getting 1/2 pretty bad ones, but better than nothing.
We came back and ate, I stuck the fins in my board and went back to the beach in hope of getting a wave. In the 40 minutes that took the marginal wave which was there had gone to s***. The onshore had picked up, the tide had come up, the few guys were no where to be seen and it was just horrendous. I walked down the beach and watched it for 10 minutes hoping anything would change, but it didn't so I went back again in a pretty foul mood.
I then took up the same position as the day before - settled myself into a sun lounger and didn't move from the pool up 1pm, other than to swim around and cool off as it was very very warm.
We then ate, and headed off to Kuta for the arvo. Saskia was selling her current board and getting a new one, and I wanted to get a Surfboard Sock to keep mine safe while putting on a scooter etc.
It was actually a pretty fun afternoon. Saskia got her board, I got the sock and a fantastic present for Jordan Bayliss. Until about 5pm we just wandered around through the back streets and looked in the little shops. Its incredible how many shops are almost EXACTLY the same - Singlets, knock off Sunnies, bad knock off watches, horrendously rude but very funny t-shirts and other cheap souvenirs.
We got a taxi back to Canggu sometime later on, which took ages as it was the middle of rush hour. When we got back Saskia was stoked to wax her new board etc, which reminded me of when I got mine in Aus. After that we did the usual nothingness dossing around and going on the internet, stereotypically of my generally.
A highlight was that Matt had uploaded a montage of the best GoPro videos we took in Lembongan. I definitely need to somehow download that when I get home, it's such a cool representation of our trip!
(Photo - the new board sock, how exciting!).
