Today was on the whole a pretty chilled day, just what was needed after yesterday! We got up about 9am, had some breakfast outside our room, then Mum and I decided to go for a wander around Ubud.
From the hotel/homestay we walked along around the outside of the Monkey Forest, which was really cool. Without having to pay and go in, we could still see all the monkeys running around and pestering the tourists to feed them Bananas and stuff. From there we then spent about 45 following a rubbish map and locals directions, to try and find 'Ubud Market'. It was cool to see more of Ubud though after last times flying visit, but it was seriously sweaty heat making it a bit more like hard work..
Eventually we found the market and within a couple of minutes a guy started trying to sell us wallets. Mine had been on its last legs for months, and Mum was nice enough to get me a present - a really nice brown leather Oakley wallet! I was stoked, but we were out of money and had to go to the ATM, where it all went wrong.
We are still none the wiser to what actually happened, but somehow either the machine swallowed a card or just went wrong, and didn't give us any money. It a big panic we went to the Tourist Info place and found out where the bank was. Long story short though we didn't have time to do anything about, as we were signing out the place we stayed and getting a taxi back to Nusa Dua.
We half walked, half ran, back to the Homestay, just in time to sign out, and then got straight into the taxi after a quick shower. As we wanted to get back early and just chill for a while, we did the journey all the way back without any stops.
Having got back to the Mariott we booked in and sorted out our bags, and went for some late lunch. Mum and I then went down to the hotel's beach, leaving Dad behind to sort out all sorts of stuff at the hotel.
I took my board to the beach half heartedly hoping for a surf, but it was extreme low tide and the surf was tiny with the reef virtually dry. Instead we both just sat on the sun beds chilling for a couple of hours, before heading back to the hotel.
After a swim in the pool we had a lateish dinner, then Mum and I went to the Spa. She was having her nails done, and I was using free vouchers to get a half an hour 'Foot Reflexology' treatment. I thought it was a bit girly, but it was free so why not!
I was very pleasantly surprised - it was ticklish and girly as expected, but actually much more like a foot and calf massage. It was perfect for tending to my stiff calfs and Achilles after yesterday's walking.
Later on I sat in Mum and Dads room chatting for a while, while they sorted out packing and not exceeding their baggage weight limits. Knowing we had to get up at 6am the next morning for them to leave, we all went to bed.
