From Cusco we headed to Puno on Lake Titikaka, not realising how cold it would be. I actually wore 4 layers, a scarf, hat and gloves in the hostel at all times! The altitude is 3800m the highest so far for us so walking around was tough. We scored some class A chocolate cake in a local cafe, I tell you Peru is very close to Germany for their baking skills, this makes me happy! Anyhoo, we didnt sleep on the night bus so had to wait from 5am til 11am to check in to sleep! The next day we chilled and headed around the town, not much to do here at all.
The next day we got on the slowest boat ever made across the lake to two islands called Uros and Tequille, the first of which are a bunch of man made islands made out of floatable soil and reeds. The locals make everything out of these reeds and even boats, of course we had to have a little spin in one of these. The second island teqille was cool, we hung out with some locals and haz had a little dance in a supposed marriage song! The locals here pretty much just weave scarfs and hats cos there´s nothing else to do! Our guide Gilbert was a hero and also sounded a little like a peruvian borat!
The views of the mountains were incredible, you could see across the lake top Bolivia where the highest mountain in 6400m, incredible sight. Anyways gotta bounce, see ya.
