Hi Folks
Long time no blog due to the extortinate amount that internet costs in New Zealand. Anyways we got there so here goes. As you can tell from the photos, Chile was a country of drunkeness and sillyness, en equal amount of both. After a touch 3 day trip in bolivia we decided to head straight down to the capital of Chile for a few days and relax. We took a really comfortable 22 hour bus, too easy. Good roads too in pleasant contrast to those of Bolivia.
Our first night was great, we had a few drinks in the hostel with some yanks and aussies before heading to a salsa club where we got our dance on. There was a 9 piece salsa band playing which was awesome. We even got taught a few salsa moves from some local girls, which taught us that the british really can't dance, phil collins was right. Dancing properly is tough We had a great time anyways.
Next day we went to a modern art museum which was leaking due to the rain, therefore they had strewn sawdust over to dry it up. Nice place though, it was also the scene of our most famous picture ever, the shadow YMCA one, a complete fluke. We had met up with a couple of crazy girls who we met in bolivia, absolutely nuts! They inspired our silliness. Above santiago is a view of the whole city, much like in other cities in South America. Only in santiago the mode of transport is the steepest train ever made and its called the 'Funicular'. Surprisingly it lived up to its name and we had the funniest day of our lives, cracking ridiculous joke after another. The silliness was probably also enhanced by copius consumption of candyfloss, hence the candyfloss beard.
Another night out insued and general ignorance but a great city deserved a great time. Santiago is probably the most european of cities and Chile is the most developed South American country, very civilised and the people are yet again very friendly. There's a good art scence here too, nice place fair play.
Over and Out see you in NZ
