We enjoyed our last breakfast in the Finca Bavaria, a private Taxi came to pick us up at 8.45h. The drive to Sierpe was short, we stranded at 10h to wait 2.5 hours for our boat shuttle to Drake Bay. Gladly there was WLAN for the older kids and coloring books for Athena. We embarked with lifevests on, stowing our bags in the front of the boat... First we tuckered along the mangrove river out of Sierpe, pitoresque scenery, did anyone see a crocodile or cayman on the side of the river? After about 25 minutes the river became bigger and eventually ended in the open sea. We could not believe our eyes when we saw the huge waves crushing in, did we really have to get past them? It was a real adventure, the captain gladly new his job very well. He took a few smaller waves, waited until the right moment to get into the ideal position to let the engine roar and gave full speed to ride the waves. I guess we did surf, just with a motor. But oh my.. fear was in our eyes, we wondered if this boatride was always that crazy. First stop was Drake Bay, all other 16 passengers got off, our hotel was a bay further. To arrive was another adventure since it is a wet landing with high waves slamming in. Of course we got wet, but we had help with our luggage. We arrived at 1pm at Caletas Lodge, our final destination and home for the next 4 nights. We explored our rooms, the lodge, the surroundings - a heavenly hideaway away from civilisation!
