Our trip has come to an end. We started our Costa Rica adventure exactly 3 weeks ago. Everything was unknown and perilous...adventure in the making. Now the journey has been lived through... places have experiences, odours, colors, feelings and memories attached. Happy and exciting ones but sad and uncomfy, hurtful and nasty feelings too. We gulped it all in like whales.... already now looking through the tons of pictures we took, it all comes back. It will take some time to digest and we hopefully will spend lots of time looking at the artifacts - photos, videos, selfies, gopro shots, memorabilia like maps, leaflets, receipts, entrance tickets and so on. We are already now looking back on to Costa Rica as an enriching experience that first seemed to be challenging but into the trip grew into a once in a lifetime experience that brought us closer as a family. Pura Vida!
We left Las Caletas with David, the hotel owner who took us on his boat back to Sierpe. He managed the waves very well, took us even on a small detour through the mangroves. Our driver Alex took us in 4 hours to San José airport where we waited for 8 hours before boarding our flight. Elena was called out when waiting at the gate... they found some shells we collected at the different beaches in her suitcase. They called out about eight other names... how were we supposed to know it was illegal??? Fabian and Elena are now on the smuggler list and might never be able to return!? We had then and still now thinking about that story a good laugh!!!
We landed safely in Zurich, took the train home, were picked up by my parents in law and enjoyed a home cooked lasagne. The house, garden, dog, cat, quails and mice are in excellent condition... so we are already planning our next adventure! A big THANK YOU to all our dear family members taking care of everything. So long....
