The big day has arrived; Alex and me going on an 8hour trip to the jungle. Corcovado Nationalpark has been our top spot all along planning this trip so when the day finally arrived it was clear that only the brave and fearless are able to go ;)
It started with an early breakfast, at the break of dawn at 5:30. Our boat picked us up at 6:15 heading south to an access to Corcovado National Park, the so called Sirena tour entrance. Again another bumpy boatride, where 3m waves crashed not at the shore but already 200 m off the beach. I dont know how we managed to get in to the narrow river mouth to gett off the boat but we did. Gladly Alex kept smiling all the time during the rough bumps, twists and turns we had to endure on the boat - I kept thinking of Europa Park rides with the REAL adventure feeling. We had to change from sandals to closed walking shoes, spray on the mosquito repellent and in we walked with Vincent our english speaking guide. Our group of 8 consisted of only French speakers, from Geneva, Paris and Bordeaux. First we spotted a crocodile, then some Tapir tracks along the beach... after 2 hours discovering, looking, checking, spotting and listening- if I had to list all the animals and plants we saw this page would become to long ;) - we enjoyed a yummy burrito lunch at the Sirena Ranger station. Then another 2h treck in the wilderness of the park where we finished our tour with a highlight of spotting a mother tapir with a baby. When we left the place - again to the boat, there was another tapir strolling along the beach 200m away from us having a poo in the sea. We've been told thats how they do it...
All in all it was an impressive day, filled with action, adventure and loads of new discoveries. A perfect highlight ending for our trip. We returned to Las Caletas around 4pm exhausted and content.
