Aurélie, Alex and I got a pre-packed breakfast bag since we dared to go see the whales today. There is a 75%chance at this time of the year to see humpbackwhales in the Uvita bay. They come here to give birth and to mate.
We embarqued from the beach into a small boat - smaller than a whale thats for sure and drove about an hour along the coast before we spotted the first mother whale with a 2 week old calf. This was another goosebump event in my life... seeing such a majestic, giant animal right in front of you interacting/teaching its baby life saving skills. Wow - wow - wow! Pura vida!
We continued in the opposite direction seeing two mum/baby couples more, one swam at one point in our direction... didn't feel so comfy on that little vessel. We got to swim in the sea close to a small, from birds inhabited island and looked at a nice cave like hole in the rocks at the shore. All in all it was a great trip - for me as an animal, sea and boat lover the best I've done in CR so far!
