Europe in a Backpack
I have spent 3 days in Edinburgh now with two remaining. Even though I haven't been able to visit the highlands this trip due to money and time restraints. I have been getting the culture out of the people here. After my day of scotch tasting, I spent the next visiting the castle in Edinburgh. Although it has changed to be quite touristy, you can still feel the essense of the castle as it once was in medieval times. I kind of wish I entered riding a giant horse with my sword in the air and women cheered for me. But that is neither here nor there. As soon as my ship comes in, I am building a castle in Scotland somewhere. I treated myself to a fine scottish meal of Haggis once finished with my tour of the castle. The worst thing about Haggis is how everybody tells you exactly what it is made up before you even try it. It really isn't that bad tasting if you didn't know what it was made of. And if you threw it on a bun, I bet it would be quite good. However, when I chewed it, all I could think of was what I was eating and it kinda churned my stomach. Oh well, I will try anything once. Oh yeah, one funny thing that happened last night was when I was sitting playing cards with a bunch of people and a girl asked if we wanted to go to a pub. We said sure because this one pub was having cheap drinks. As we waited in line, the security guys passed us threw one by one. When they got the girl, they asked for identification. The first time I have ever heard of them ID'ing somebody in europe and this was the time. Somebody said the girl was only 16 and I laughed. But that wasn't the funny part, the funny part is after they asked her, they just waved me right threw and I was like alright? Then when I asked a girl inside why I didn't get checked she said I looked like I was 30. I was outraged and forgot about it the next second. That is all for now. Adios.
