The train journey was suprisingly pain free, depsite being woken up by kids kicking and screaming below our bunks! Mel and I clambered our way down from our bunks, and munched on our subways. A good hearty breakast. After we had woken it took us a couple of hours to get into Guilin. On the way in , the place looked like a mixture of fields and run down shanty towns. We were sort of wondering where this train was taking us to! We eventually pulled into Guilin train station and the surrounding area looked slightly more civilized with shops and houses as opposed to shacks! We had a train station pick up for the first time. She got us on the bus and took us to WADA where we unpacked.
After sussing out the hostel, we left and went exploring. Immediately we noticed it was back to people staring. It was crazy! People straining their necks trying to get a photo and nearly falling off their mopeds! We managed to get through the cray roads and headed to the shopping mall. I picked up a mascarra because mine is done and it is the only thing I have been wearing. I picked up bread and water too, then we had a smoothie each! After our little shopping trip we headed back to the hostel and played some pool. We saw a sign saying the hostel has a BBQ every friday night which is 'all you can eat', so we decided we would tackle that and stuck our names down. 40 yuan so only 4 pounds!
7.30 arrived and it was BBQ time. I wouldn't really have callled it a BBQ but it was still good fun. We met loads of new people including a couple from the Netherlands. They were both over 6 ft tall and sinking the local beers. I am doing an alcohol detox to try and help with my stomach, so 12 oclock and it was bed time for me!
