We set alarms for 7 am knowing we were being picked up at 8 am. It wasn't pleasant! I threw on the clothes I was wearing yesterday and packed my things before heading to the lounge area. Mel ate some breakfast but it was still too early for me so I stuck to some water! We payed for the extra nights we had stayed and then bumped into Irish conor. He may tell a lot of tall tales but it he is pretty funny! Angela was going on the li river tour also, the lady who left the market because of the smell! She is mental.
We took one small bus ride to station and then got on the coach. Due to lack of seats I was on my own; which I didn't mind! I was still too tired to even talk so it was a blessing in disguise. I scoffed a banana and enjoyed the view out of the window. The tour guide Sophie was talking into the mic. She claimed that we would need to form
A queue if we had any intention of eating at the Buffett. Apparently the Chinese will stock their plates up for the next two weeks! Typical! I am not even surprised. We eventually reached that docks and the view already was incredible. Guilin is amazing looking which made me excited for yangshuo as apparently it's the ultimate scenery! Ace!
We climbed aboard at 10am and I managed to snag a window seat. After paying 400 yuan I wouldn't be settling for a crap middle seat wedged between two gurning babies! (Bad luck Conor). We headed off and were told we had to wait twenty minutes before we were allowed on the top deck. The boat was actually quite small. Nothing fancy or anything but that's not the reason I was on it. It was to see the beautiful li river. 20 minutes passed and I was up like a shot with my camera! It was incredible. The mountains were so close, the water buffalo were happily watching the boats go by and the sun was hitting us all on the top deck. I took some snaps then kicked off my sandals and let my feet dangle over the edge of the boat. Conor ,Angela, Melissa and I just sat and relaxed and chatted; soaking up the rays!
At 11.45 we took up our positions to battle for some food. Us four were at the front of queue. It was completely cringeworthy but everyone was starving! Turns out the food was rank so we needn't have bothered. I filled up on rice and got back to the top deck. More sunning and taking photos and before we knew it the boat had arrived. Yongshuo is amazingly beautiful. It's like a town plonked right in the middle of a mountain landscape with hills and rivers and streams. It's so pretty. We grabbed our bags and did the trek for cosy garden hostel. After an ice cream, and much confusion, we found our hostel. We purposefully picked cosy garden as it is out of the way in the wooded area at the top of town. We will see how this decision pans out soon I'm sure!
We checked in, payed our cash and headed to the room. First thing we were greeted with was a fellow English traveller who was being sick. He said Chinese food had not been kind to him and all I did was agree. Mel and I chilled for a while and noticed that outside looked like it was about to storm. We decided we needed dinner so headed over to 'Carpe diem' were we had lovely buffalo chips! Whilst eating the most incredible storm occurred. Firstly, the wind was blowing the hostel roof about so we were chucked inside! Next it poured down, and the the heavens opened and lighting lit up the sky. I absolutely love thunder and lightning so we watched it for a solid hour! When things settled down we headed back to the hostel, chatted to the sick traveller then headed to bed!
