I woke up this morning in the same pool of sweat as yesterday. However I have figured out the problem! The aircon unit is beside the girl on the bunk beside me but we all have individual curtains that we can draw. During the night all the cool air is blowing into her bunk while the rest of us are melting! I think she realised because she woke up this morning and said 'guys I am so sorry!'. Poor girl. The room was so hot that the watermelon I purchased yesterday is now just water. Grim! I got up showered and ordered a fruit salad for breakfast, nothing to heavy for my spastic stomach.
We set off with the directions from the hostel staff. The directions were 'get on bus three, wait 19 stops, and get off.' Surprisingly, these directions were very accurate! We arrived at the flute cave at about 11am. We were surrounded again by lakes and forest and it was beautiful! We walked up a hill and reached a little shop with merchandise and ticketing booths. I was thinking that surely this couldn't be it, it was so commercial! But we quickly found out we were in the right place. We paid 90 yuan and entered the cave and I was immediately impressed. The cave was so deep and lit up by an infusion of lights. It looked mega pretty! What Melissa and I thought was hilarious was that everyone was offered a tour guide Barr us! I thought it would be the reverse! Sadly we learnt nothing about the cave because of no English signs but I googled some info after!
We left the cave and got the bus back a few stops and got off at deci hill. We wanted to do a trek today and overlook the entirety of Guilin. Deci hill offers up a 360 view so we thought we would tackle that. Again, there was a gift shop you had to enter before you could even enter the hill. I hate that! It really ruins natural beauty, but I guess these places have to make money some how. We trekked and the sweat was lashing off us. I have never experienced anything like it! I kept reminding myself I had to drink loads of water as we keep sweating it out everyday! We reached the peak and I was immediately blown away. I have never seen a view so amazing. Miles upon miles of peaks and mountains and lakes and pagodas. Guilin really has opened my eyes to the natural beauty of china that is sort of absent in places like shanghai. I loved it! We got plenty of snaps and walked back down. After our trek we went to the sun and moon pagoda which was very pretty. We aim to go back at night and they are lit up and I can get nice pictures on my proper camera!
After sight seeing and trekking we decided dinner was in order. We headed to our little local market grabbed some soup noodles. Mine were filled with pork and goodness knows what else. They were tasty though and I was hungry so they Didnt last long. We then headed back to wada hostel and talked about our upcoming trip. I think our plan is to go to yangshuo on Wednesday via the Li river. We have just decided to stay down there as it kills two birds with one stone as we would be travelling down there anyway! We booked a hostel and chilled out after that! Bed by ten. I like it.
