Today nothing was planned as the weather was a bit ordinary, very windy although a nice breeze which is a pleasant change. After breakfast Neil set off to the main reception to the outside decking with a million dollar view where he uploaded photos and updated the travel blog (see the photo). Joanna did some homework and Sharon and Tanya potted around packing up some gear; getting ready to travel to Broome tomorrow. Later in the afternoon we returned to Bundys house to drop off his fishing bag which he had lent us for the squid and to say goodbye. We pulled up in the driveway and Neil took the bag around the back to give it to Bundy. After a little while, Bundy and his whole family came out to the car, including his mother-in-law, and it turned out that they were mad Geelong supporters (Neil had his Geelong t-shirt on and Bundy had just finished watching the game). Bundys mother in law told us that she was going to go to Kardinia Park to watch the Grand Final, so we told her that we went to Kardinia Park for the family day on the Sunday. She said "I'll be there too. You look out for us. We’ll be the 3 black fellows". She was a lovely lady and asked us if we ate raw fish?????. She then gave us a plate which had slices of Queenie (a local fish with firm white flesh, very nice on the bbq) which had been pickled in vinegar along with tomato, onion, and chilli. Absolutely fantastic. Neil told her she should start bottling it and she would make a fortune.
We had to leave, so we asked Bundy’s kids to climb off the car (by this stage they were standing on the side steps talking to us in the car) and we headed off to Lombardina to look at the church which we had been told about by Vincent and Bundy. Lombardina, which is right next to Djaridjin, is a very well kept aboriginal community, with a church made from local mangrove and tea tree. A very interesting place. We then headed up the road a bit to look at a place called Hunter Creek, which turned out to be not much on the face of it.
Headed back to camp after an exciting day. Melanie, Ann and Joanna went for a walk along the Western Beach and then we went to the restaurant for tea, which was pretty average for some, Joanna and Melanie really enjoyed their kangaroo fillets.
