The girls woke up today with Tanya calling thier name as their was a wallaby right outside the camper. Theygot up and patted him. He is the local resident wallaby and is pretty friendly although still wild. Tanya told us that she heard a noise in the middle of the night and got up to find that a wallaby had opened up the clip top of her cereal container and had tipped out the cereal and was having a great feed.
walked down to the thermal pool and had a look at the pool and the Roper River.
we then drove off to the Little Roper River to have a fish. got to the first river criossing and there was about 350mm of water running over the road, pretty fast too. we stayed there and fished in the fast flowing water running from one side of the road to the other, but didnt have any luck.
We then crossed the river and went to the next river crossing where there were some aboriginals fishing. For bait, they were using steak they had bought from a shop, as well as a snake they had caught. In their bucket they had a couple of bream and a small turtle. The lady told us the turtle was good to eat. We tried fishing there but no luck either.
went back to the campsite and decided to go down to the thermal pool. Joanna was scared to go in to the pool as the water was crystal clear and it was full of little fish like we have in our fish tank at home. When you get in the water, the fish come over and nibble at your skin eating all of the dead skin off you. We were in the water for about 1.5 hours.
Went back to camp and then went over to the bar at the homestead for a few drinks.
Sharon cooked a curry for dinner and the girls had rice with Japanese flavoring (dried tuna and seaweed) sprinkled on it.
