Day 12 - Well, it didn't last. The clouds and rain were to be with us all day. We followed the coast south from Blackpool, stopping at Lythan to visit a restored windmill. Located right on the beach, it was used to mill flour back in the 18th century. A very well preserved piece of history. Our next coastal stop was Southport. The beaches here are nothing like ours. When it's low tide here, you can hardly see the water. From here it was on to Liverpool, Beatles country. We spent a couple of hours at the Beatles museum, located in the Liverpool's Dock Precinct. It was a tour where you walked around with headphones on and keyed in the number relative to the exhibit you were facing. A lot of original equipment, photographs and documents telling the story on how they formed, their many highlights and at the end of the display, how they broke up in April 1970. It also told the stories of their lives after this time. From the museum it was a short 15 walk (in the rain) to Matthew street in town where the band first played. Only a very short street, but full of history of the group. We left Liverpool a little later than expected and caught the peak hour traffic, drove under the Mersey River via the Birkenhead Tunnel and headed for North Wales. A late finish found us at the Beach Hotel at Prestatyn.
