Day 11 - Another fine day (I don't believe it) saw us hit the road about 10am after a informative chat with our B&B host Pauline. She told us about a church across from the B&B that was worth a visit. We found gravestones dating back to the Viking era (early 16th century). Headed south on the M6 towards Penrith, bypassing the busy town of Carlisle. Left the M6 for Keswick and now entering the picturesque Lakes District. We met up with our friends from Adelaide (who we will be joining in London next week for our Europe adventure) at a small busy tourist town of Ambleside. We both drove south along the shores of Lake Windermere, caught a cable ferry from Bowness across the loch to Far Sawry. Here we visited the home of Beatrix Potter, the famous children's story writer. Here we left Phil & Elaine and headed south, joined the M6 again for about 30 minutes then it was off the highway to the coastal town of Blackpool. Bedded down at the Great Western hotel, across the road from the beach.
