Day 2 on the canal boat
Today was the journey across the Bassin de Thau, otherwise known as the Salt Lake :) It takes longer than you really think. It looks quite short but takes quite a long time especially on a canal boat! It was really refreshing sitting on the deck, lying in the sunshine. Once we finally reached the other side we went up the Canal du Rhone à Sete until we reached the Frontignan bridge.
Now the bad thing about this bridge is that it ONLY opens at 8:30am and 4pm. We had to wait about 2hrs so we went sight seeing in town. Another bad thing is that all the shops close for siesta in the middle of the day! (Siesta is where everyone goes home for a rest & lunch). It is especially bad because we always seem to arrive at most places in the middle of the day!
We went through the 4pm bridge and reached a place called Palavas les Flots for dinner. It was nice to choose where you eat & sleep each night. You were allowed to moore your boat where ever you like except where it is prohibited. After dinner we went for a little walk around the lovely place and saw many flying fish!
It was a great day. I like mooring the best because I get to jump off the boat and catch the ropes to tie them up.
Tahlia!
