Went for a drive to see Agnes Waters and Seventeen Seventy, the landing point for Captain Cook. It's about 2 hours north of Bundaberg and a really easy drive up. What a beautiful picturesque part of the country.
We stopped at Agnes Waters first where it seems to be a growing area with new shops and housing happening but still a very quiet little town right on the ocean. We walked through the rainforest park across a boardwalk and boom... Beautiful beaches as far as you can see. The waters were calm and so warm it was like taking a bath... We continued through to 1770 and were blown away. This place is beautiful. There's a boardwalk across the main St which only has a couple of shops and a pub/ restaurant looking out over the ocean( our destination for lunch) , past the caravan park where you can camp right on the beach of you want, a definite stop for us in the future.
As we continued up to the top to see a monument for Captain Cook. This was his landing point. OMG any wondered he claimed it... The views from the lookout were spectacular . We saw a pod of dolphins in the clear Aqua water.
The walk to the viewing deck only took 5 mins but by the time we got back, due to the humidity, the water was to inviting to resist. When we arrived back at the beach the tide had gone out and what was pristine clear waters when we arrived had now turned to sand banks with a small inlet. A guy was descaling his yacht in the shallow waters before our walk and when we arrived for a swim it was high and dry on the beach.. The tides move quick here. We went for a swim anyway then headed to the pub for cocktails and lunch. The food was awesome and fresh and really well priced, not to expensive. I could have spent hours here, but we were only on a day visit this time... If you haven't been. Put this on your must see destinations. A great spot to relax and unwind.
